Romanized Korean to English terms

A-B

Ahjumma - Old woman or aunt, used on much older women. Pisses them off if you use it. Similar to Japanese term Oba-san.

Ahjussi - Old man or uncle, used on much older men. Pisses Weed off when everyone uses it. Similar to Japanese term Oji-san.

Geomchi - Sword, refers to the dojo practitioners. They follow the naming scheme Geomchi [Number]. Without a number, refers to either the master or the group, chideul often follows the group version I think. Honestly, If this was to be super faithful to the novel, I believe they should just be named Sword [Number].

Hyung - Elder brother, used by males to refer to males slightly older than them. Symbolizes closeness.

I-J

Imugi - Python Monster, phonetic form is preferred as its shorter and sounds cooler. Mistakenly translated to Lemon by GT.

Japtem - Used to describe ingame items that aren't materials or equipment. Basically the etc. loot.

Jeonshin - Translates to precedent. This title of Weed signifies how he was the first to do all those things thought to be impossible.

Kimbap - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gimbap. Sushi rolls basically.

Mamul - Evil spirit, refers to the monsters mainly, used often throughout the novel.

Nim - Follows a name or title. A formal term for showing respect. Similar to the Japanese term Sama.

Nogada - Physical labor more or less, refers to all the crap Weed does to accomplish his tasks.

Nuna - Elder sister, used by males to refer to females slightly older than them. Symbolizes closeness. Not used in the novel but it feels weird not putting it when the other 3 are here.

Oppa - Elder brother, used by females to refer to males slightly older than them. Symbolizes closeness.

Pindaetteog - Korean style pancake.

Sahyung - Elder brother, term of respect used primarily by Weed to refer to the dojo practitioners as people of higher rank than him.

Ssi - Mister or Miss. Follows a name. Similar to Japanese term San.


Sunbae - Senior, term of respect for someone who's been around longer than you. Similar to Japanese term Senpai. Pisses Lee Hyun off when everyone at college thinks he's a returnee and calls him that.

Unni - Elder sister, used by females to refer to females slightly older than them. Symbolizes closeness. Yurin uses this often with Hwaryung and the other girls.
